The Ozarks Philharmonic Youth Orchestras will perform “Celebrate Your Story”, on May 1st at the Center for Nonprofits @ St. Mary’s in Rogers, Arkansas at 7:00 pm and at Rogers Heritage High School on May 8th at 7:00 pm.
Classical music has the power to transform lives and storytelling adds another layer of connection to the original work that deepens appreciation, gives hope and insight, and encourages us to thoughtfully consider our own story.
The song selections chosen for this season by OPYO Music Director/YSO Conductor Mr. Jesse Collett all share a rich history and storyline and have added to the musicality of some 130 developing musicians who have met up every Monday evening since January at the Center for Nonprofits in Rogers Arkansas to practice.
Among the pieces that will be performed, the audience will experience the nuances of several emotions; In Elgar's Enigmas Variations: Nimrod, we are filled with gratitude for a friend who lifts the composer up during personal turmoil; in Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5, we hear the resistance and forced nature of oppression; and in Glinka's Ruslan and Lyudmila, we are taken on a magical adventure where everything is possible.
The Ozark Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is dedicated to the advancement of music students through superior music education, personal growth through community engagement, emphasizing cooperation and mutual respect in a supportive environment, and by offering the only full symphonic experience for youth in Northwest Arkansas.
