Thanks to the popularity of the 2014 Ice Bucket Challenge, ALS has become one of the most well-known non-curable diseases in the world. Using funds from recent donations, The ALS Association has made recent progress in the fight for a cure. One of the ways local northwest Arkansas residents can help find a cure for ALS is by participating in local ALS fundraisers in partnership with the ALS Association of Arkansas.
The ALS Association of Arkansas hosted an outstanding event at the Compton Gardens in Bentonville last Saturday, August 27th titled "Walk to Defeat ALS."
We'd like to give a huge shout-out to the ALS Association of Arkansas for their fantastic event for the Walk to Defeat ALS. Our meeting space consultant, Tom Galyon, was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago and has vigorously fought to bring awareness toward this devastating disease. Tom and his team won several awards at the Walk to Defeat ALS including:
Largest Team – Tom’s Troopers
Best Shirt Design – Tom’s Troopers
2016 Hero Award – Tom Galyon
“A HERO is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” – Christopher Reeve
The ALS Association of Arkansas is a partner with the Center for Nonprofits at St. Mary's. For more info about their local chapter of this nonprofit or to make a donation, click here.
